Ellesmere Port-based engineering firm Thyson Technology, a specialist in integrated sampling and analytical systems, has almost doubled the footprint of its production and office facilities in response to a period of unprecedented growth.

The business, which designs and builds analyser systems for some of the biggest names in the global oil and gas, energy, steel and pharmaceutical sectors, has grown its turnover to more than £10m with a string of recent contract wins, including work with National Grid and engineering giant Emerson.

The growth has also allowed it to increase its work force by 25 per cent to 80 employees, including chartered and professional engineers, and to appoint a new sales manager, Glen Lancaster, to help deliver the company’s ambitious business development plans.

David Barrowclough, chief executive officer at Thyson Technology, said: “We have built a strong reputation for quality and delivery in our key markets and the expanded production capacity will allow us to meet continued growth in demand for our services around the world.

“It will also allow us to target growth in newer sectors for the business, including nuclear power generation, as well expanding our existing international and new emerging terrortries.

“Our investment in enhancing Thyson’s production capabilities in Ellesmere Port is a sign not only of the continued growth of the company, but also of our commitment to the region, which has proved an ideal base for our global business throughout the history of the company.

“This expansion comes in the year of Thyson Technology’s 20th anniversary, and is a great reminder of what we have achieved in a relatively niche sector.”
