Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: TTL Head Office
Department: Engineering

Key Objectives: 

Reporting to the Mechanical/Process Design Lead, they will undertake design of Mechanical/Process systems for projects across O&G and GDN work, carryout technical reviews of designs, appraise quotations for materials/components, liaison with clients, third party consultants & suppliers. Provision of technical support to in-house manufacturing and project managers, ensure the design elements of the program are completed on time and designs are drawn-up in accordance with applicable specifications and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend in-house and client weekly meetings providing technical support to project managers
  • Liaison with clients and sub-suppliers of the technical delivery of the projects in conjunction with the Project PM
  • Undertaking design reviews and attending design review meetings
  • In house manufacturing support based on produced design
  • Specifying project materials
  • Manage, report and approve the delivery of project drawings and associated records
  • Attend project handover with the sales team if needed
  • Sales quote input if needed
  • Manage build queries for both the workshop and site work if needed
  • Communicate Good Practice to other projects with reference to the Performance Improvement Procedure
  • Responsible for their own health and safety and that of others and undertake the obligations as defined within the TTL H&S Manual.
  • Assist in the implementation of the TTL Quality Assurance, Environmental Management System, abide and promote its Policies and Procedures.

Job Requirements

Academic qualifications and level of education – Essential

  • Mechanical Engineering qualification to HNC/HND (or equivalent) level

Academic qualifications and level of education – Desirable

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering disciplin
  • Chartered Engineer (Applicable to discipline)
  • Member of the Institution of Measurement and Control,
  • MIET – Member of the Institution Engineering & Technology,
  • Member Institute of Eng Designers,
  • Member of the Institution of Engineering Technology

Specific Skills – Essential

  • Competent in the use of MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Computer literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent organisational skills & manage own worked load to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge and experience of the design life cycles of a project

Specific Skills – Desirable

  • Knowledge of ATEX and Mechanical design of systems for hazardous areas

Knowledge – Essential

  • Experience in equipment engineering specifications and standards
  • Organised and methodical drawing/document control.
  • Knowledge of build processes.
  • Awareness of the regulations and standards applicable to Mechanical/Process systems.
  • Display good commercial awareness.

Knowledge – Desirable

  • Familiarity with Small Bore Pipe Work Systems.

  • Experience of working within the process, oil & gas and petrochemical industry
  • Broad engineering background.
  • Experience working within the gas distribution/transmission industry

Experience – Desirable

  • Working experience with analysers
