Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: TTL Head Office
Department: Engineering
Key Objectives:
Reporting to the Mechanical/Process Design Lead, they will undertake design of Mechanical/Process systems for projects across O&G and GDN work, carryout technical reviews of designs, appraise quotations for materials/components, liaison with clients, third party consultants & suppliers. Provision of technical support to in-house manufacturing and project managers, ensure the design elements of the program are completed on time and designs are drawn-up in accordance with applicable specifications and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend in-house and client weekly meetings providing technical support to project managers
- Liaison with clients and sub-suppliers of the technical delivery of the projects in conjunction with the Project PM
- Undertaking design reviews and attending design review meetings
- In house manufacturing support based on produced design
- Specifying project materials
- Manage, report and approve the delivery of project drawings and associated records
- Attend project handover with the sales team if needed
- Sales quote input if needed
- Manage build queries for both the workshop and site work if needed
- Communicate Good Practice to other projects with reference to the Performance Improvement Procedure
- Responsible for their own health and safety and that of others and undertake the obligations as defined within the TTL H&S Manual.
- Assist in the implementation of the TTL Quality Assurance, Environmental Management System, abide and promote its Policies and Procedures.
Job Requirements
Academic qualifications and level of education – Essential
- Mechanical Engineering qualification to HNC/HND (or equivalent) level
Academic qualifications and level of education – Desirable
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering disciplin
- Chartered Engineer (Applicable to discipline)
- Member of the Institution of Measurement and Control,
- MIET – Member of the Institution Engineering & Technology,
- Member Institute of Eng Designers,
- Member of the Institution of Engineering Technology
Specific Skills – Essential
- Competent in the use of MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Computer literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Office products
- Excellent organisational skills & manage own worked load to meet deadlines
- Knowledge and experience of the design life cycles of a project
Specific Skills – Desirable
- Knowledge of ATEX and Mechanical design of systems for hazardous areas
Knowledge – Essential
- Experience in equipment engineering specifications and standards
- Organised and methodical drawing/document control.
- Knowledge of build processes.
- Awareness of the regulations and standards applicable to Mechanical/Process systems.
- Display good commercial awareness.
Knowledge – Desirable
- Familiarity with Small Bore Pipe Work Systems.

- Experience working within the gas distribution/transmission industry
