Coronavirus COVID-19 Update 07.04.20
April 7, 2020
Dear stakeholder
We wanted to reassure you that Thyson have measures in place to safeguard the well-being of our colleagues and customers in addition to strategies that will allow us to continue to maintain business as usual as far as is reasonably practical.
The health, safety and well-being of our colleagues and customers is of the utmost importance to us. As a result, we continue to monitor and implement official government and Public Health England guidance in relation to the coronavirus. Following the current Government advice all staff who can work from home are now doing so. This will minimise any impact of the current situation on our ability to engineer, design and project manage existing customer requirements.
We have carefully reviewed the current build programmes within our manufacturing team and concluded that for the time being a number of Thyson’s skilled tradesman within the manufacturing team, who are unable to work from home, can be placed on a short period of furloughed leave without significant implications for delivery times to our customers. We continue to build customer projects at our manufacturing site utilising a reduced number of skilled tradesman across our two buildings whilst maintaining the required 2m distancing rules and increased hygiene levels which are really important to ensure we protect our staff and minimise any risk of cross infection.
We feel that by taking this action we not only protect our colleagues and customers but we will contribute to the national effort in fighting coronavirus and help to protect the NHS and save lives.
Our expert commissioning and service team remain available to support our customers. To ensure we can support onsite customer requirements we will require a letter explaining why the Thyson member of staff is classed as a key worker. This will ensure appropriate accommodation and subsistence (where travel distance requires overnight stays) can be procured given the Governments current instructions for hotels to be closed to commercial/leisure customers i.e. they should only open to permanent residents and key workers. Such letters can also be used to support travel in the event of police checks if implemented.
We are confident that the measures we have in place will minimise the impact on our own employees and operations so that we are on hand to continue to deliver our services to our customers during these difficult times.
In the meantime, if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
